Same-Day Delivery for Local Retailers: How Marketplace Pickup Beats Amazon on Bulky Items

Yes. A local store can offer same-day delivery by using Marketplace pickup. A nearby driver collects the item from your store and delivers it to the customer within hours, giving you a speed advantage over online giants on bulky goods.

Where Online Giants Struggle

Large marketplaces excel at parcels. They are slow and expensive at bulky, fragile or heavy items, and returns are painful. That is the opening for local stores.

The Local Retailer Advantage

| Factor | Local store with Marketplace pickup | Online giant | |---|---|---| | Item in stock nearby | Yes, in your showroom | Often a distant warehouse | | Delivery window | Same day or next day | 3-10 days for bulky goods | | Inspection before delivery | Easy | Limited | | Returns | Simple, local | Complex, freight-based | | Personal service | Strong | Minimal |

Making Same-Day Work

1. Keep best-sellers pre-wrapped or staged near the loading area 2. Set a daily cut-off, for example orders by 2 pm ship same day 3. Submit the pickup request as soon as the sale is complete 4. Share customer access notes such as stairs and elevator times

Pricing the Service

Many retailers charge a flat local delivery fee, bundle free delivery above a basket value, or fold the cost into the price. Marketplace pickup lets you test each approach without committing to a fleet.

Promote It

Add a same-day delivery badge to product pages, mention it in Google Business Profile posts and use geo keywords such as your city name plus same-day furniture delivery. Start with a [delivery request](/request-delivery) or read about our [retailer program](/landing/retailers).
